Hi, I'm Kevin Ho

Three years ago, I was lying awake at 2 AM, frustrated and overheated in yet another set of sheets that promised the world but delivered scratchy, sweaty nights. Sound familiar?

As someone who's always been a light sleeper, I'd tried everything, from Egyptian cotton that felt stiff, microfiber that trapped heat, to "luxury" sets that pilled after a few washes. I was spending a third of my life uncomfortable, and it was affecting everything else.

That's when I discovered bamboo fabric during a trip to visit textile mills in Asia. The moment I felt genuine bamboo bedding, I knew I'd found something special. It was impossibly soft, naturally cooling, and got better with every wash. But when I tried to buy quality bamboo sheets back home in Canada, I hit a wall. Everything was either overpriced, poor quality, or both.

So I did what any sleep-deprived entrepreneur would do: I decided to make my own.

The SoftlyMade Story

What started as my personal quest for better sleep became something bigger when friends and family tried my prototypes and refused to give them back. "Where can I buy these?" became the question I heard most.

SoftlyMade launched from my Vancouver apartment in 2024 with a simple mission: create bamboo bedding that actually lives up to the hype, without the luxury markup. Every decision we make, from our signature weave to our packaging, comes back to one question: "Would this help me sleep better?"

Why I'm Obsessed with Bamboo

Here's what I learned that changed everything: not all bamboo bedding is created equal. The secret is in the processing and weave. Our sheets use 100% bamboo lyocell with a percale weave that creates the perfect balance: soft enough to feel luxurious, structured enough to stay crisp, and breathable enough to keep you cool all night.

The sustainability aspect sealed the deal for me. Bamboo grows 30 times faster than cotton, uses 70% less water, and naturally resists bacteria without chemical treatments. When you can sleep better AND reduce your environmental impact, why wouldn't you?

Our Promise to You

I'm not going to promise you'll become a morning person overnight (though many customers tell me they actually look forward to bedtime now). What I will promise is bedding that gets softer with every wash, stays cool when you run hot, and lasts for years, not months.

We're still a small, founder-led company, which means when you email us, you might actually hear from me. I read every review, respond to concerns personally, and use your feedback to make our products better.
